BlueScope Steel Limited manufactures and supplies metal coated and painted steel building products including steel slabs, plates, hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils, coated and painted strip products, roof and wall claddings, purlins and house frames under brands such as COLORBOND steel, COLORSTEEL, ZINCALUME steel, GALVABOND steel, GALVASPAN steel, LYSAGHT steel building products, TRUECORE steel, BlueScope Zacs and SuperDyma; it also provides engineered building solutions under the Butler, Varco Pruden, EcoBuild and PROBUILD brands, alongside lightweight steel framing systems, insulated sandwich panels, architectural ceiling systems and steel processing services such as plasma cutting, bevelling, shearing, slitting and re-coiling. The company operates through five segments—North Star BlueScope Steel, Australian Steel Products, Building Products Asia and North America, Buildings North America, and New Zealand and Pacific Steel—serving building and construction, manufacturing, automotive and transport, agricultural, and mining industries via direct sales, service centers and distribution networks across Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and North America. Founded in 1885 and headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, BlueScope Steel Limited employs over 16,500 people at more than 160 locations and maintains its largest integrated steelworks at Port Kembla, New South Wales. In November 2025, the company entered a binding agreement to sell its 50% interest in the Tata BlueScope Steel joint venture in India to Tata Steel for net proceeds of $179 million expected in the second half of fiscal 2026, recognizing value created since 2005 in coated and painted steel products while sharpening focus on core growth investments. In August 2025, BlueScope announced it leads an international consortium with Nippon Steel Corporation, JSW Steel Limited and POSCO—representing A$115 billion in market capitalization and 130 million tonnes of annual steelmaking capacity—to evaluate acquisition options for Whyalla Steelworks in South Australia, targeting lower-emissions iron production for domestic and export markets to support global steel decarbonization.
